2014 Conference (June 18-22, 2014)

General Information

Pre-Conference (PC) Session, June 18, 2014, Wednesday

About half of the participants registered today, mainly those from cities outside of Beijing. More local participants are expected tomorrow.

1. Company visit to Tsinghua X-lab: led by Prof. Lei Wang, a group of 40 participants visited the innovative platform on Tsinghua campus.

2. New Member Orientation
The New Member Orientation has attracted over 200 new members. Prof. Anne Tsui, Jia Lin Xie and Jing Zhou shared their understanding about the IACMR’s mission and values.

3. Distinguished Executive Award
Weihua Ma, Chairman, Wing Lung Bank Ltd., former president and CEO of China Merchants Bank (CMB), has won the 2014 Distinguished Executive Award. In his talk after receiving the award,he shared how CMB has become the 6th bank in China by innovative management.

4. MOR-Wiley Reception
About 300 people attended the reception to celebrate the10th anniversary of MOR.

 

Day One, June 19, 2014 Thursday

The Biennial IACMR Conference was opened at the China National Convention Center on June 18! With 1150 people registering with the conference, the hall of 1620 square meters was almost packed.

1. Prof.Neng Liang, Program Chair), Prof. Zhihong Yi (Chair of LAC) made opening remarks. The short opening was followed by the keynote panel ‘New Research in New Contexts’,chaired by Anne S. Tsui, Peking University and Arizona State University. The four speakers are:
Gerry George, Imperial College
Hongbin Cai, Peking University
Luis Gomez-Mejia, University of NotreDame
Victor Nee, Cornell University

The first keynote panel was really very well received because of the well known speakers. More keynote panels are expected to have good number of participants.

2. Welcome Lunch
Chaired by Jiing-Lih Larry Farh, the welcome lunch started at 12:20 with the appreciation ceremony to 25 sponsoring organizations. Zhihong Yi, vice president of Remin University of China, Jiye Mao, dean of Remin Business School, presented the appreciation plaques one by one to the representatives from the 25 sponsors.
