Dear IACMR 2021 Conference Participants,

The Executive Committee of IACMR has been following closely recent COVID-19 developments. The virus has reappeared and spread in some regions of China, and the situation is still unclear. At the same time, we are facing high levels of pressure from the local epidemic control authorities.

Given our concern about the health and safety of our members, and the fact that government permission for conferences is uncertain at this moment, we have decided that all activities of IACMR’s 2021 Biannual Conference will be online, instead of in a hybrid format in Xi’an. We know that this is a disappointing, but after many rounds of discussion, we realized we had to make this difficult decision.

Please cancel your trip to Xi ‘an as soon as possible. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

We hope that all of you in the Chinese-language track will still join the conference, online. We still have great panels on a wide range of micro and macro topics, and world-renowned keynote speakers. We will do our best to make your experience online as interactive as possible. That said, we understand that some of you may not want to join online.

In order to finalize the conference program, please let us know if you will attend the conference online, by completing the survey here before 23:30, June 8th, Beijing time.  This survey is especially important for those of you who are presenting papers.

If we do not hear from you before that time, we will understand that you will be participating in the conference online. Of course, this survey is only relevant for those scheduled to attend the conference in-person in Xi’an – nothing has changed for those already scheduled to attend the English-language track on-line.

We will integrate all the Chinese and English sessions on a single webpage, so that participants can join the online conference easily. You will just need to log into the page with your conference registration account (IACMR membership email account). We will provide more details soon.

We will use Cisco WebEx as the online conference platform. Please download WebEx’s software on your computer by clicking here. We will send a test link to all the speakers and attendees in the next few days. You are welcomed to register by visiting this page(this link is available for USD payment) if you are interested in the online conference.

At present, we must devote our energy and time to the preparation of the online conference. We will handle the refund of the registration fee immediately after June 20th. Thank you very much for your understanding and support!

It is unfortunate that we will not be gathering physically in ten days as planned. We will miss meeting our new and old IACMR friends. But it is gratifying that we can still hear great research and teaching ideas, and learn from experts and scholars near and far.
