Call For Papers: International Workshop & Small Business Economics special issue on Entrepreneurship in China

About the International Workshop:

We are pleased to announce that an International Workshop on Entrepreneurship in China will be held atPeking University, Beijing on October14-15,2016. Entrepreneurship has recently drawn lots of attention in China.The Central Government is embracing “mass entrepreneurship and innovation” as anew engine of sustained growth of the Chinese economy. Under this nationalagenda, entrepreneurship is increasingly flourishing in research, practice, andpolicymaking.This workshop provides a platform for scholars to present the mostup-to-date, high-quality research on entrepreneurship in China that may shedlight on entrepreneurshippolicy.

 

The workshop welcomes research on various dimensions ofentrepreneurship, including entrepreneurs, startups, small and medium-sizedenterprises, high growth firms, and self-employment. We accept rigorousquantitative or qualitative work at any level of entrepreneurship studies: individual,organizational, industrial, regional, or national.  Sample topics include, but not limited to:

• Characteristics of Chinese entrepreneurs

• Financing Chinese entrepreneurs

• Determinants of new venture creation in China

• Determinants of new venture performance in China

• Evolution of entrepreneurship in China

• Relationships between entrepreneurship and economic development in China

• Venture capital and entrepreneurship in China

• Sources/consequences of regional variations in entrepreneurial activity in China

• Sources/consequences of industry variations in entrepreneurial activity in China

• Chinese entrepreneurial ecosystems

• The role of Chinese universities in entrepreneurship

• Assessment of Chinese entrepreneurship policy: national, provincial or local

We expect to accept 20-30 papers in a two-step process. First, weinvite you to submit an abstract or proposal(200-300 words) via email to canfei.he@gmail.com by March 15,2016. Second, we will furtherinvite submissions of full papers based on the quality of abstracts/proposals.Invited authors should submit their full papers via email to canfei.he@gmail.com by June 30, 2016.Only accepted full paperswill be presented in the workshop.All abstracts, papers and presentations mustbe in English.

 

About the Special Issue:

After the workshop, presenters are encouraged to submit their papersto a special issue on Entrepreneurship in China at Small Business Economics: An Entrepreneurship Journal (http://www.springer.com/journal/11187). Small Business Economics is one of theleading journals in entrepreneurship research. All submissions will be subjectto anormal peer-review process. The special issue is expected to be publishedin 2017 or 2018.

 

Important Dates:

Abstract due: March 15, 2016

Notice of abstract acceptance: March 31, 2016

Full paper due: June 30, 2016

Noticeof full paper acceptance: July 31, 2016

Workshop dates: October14-15, 2016

Submission to special issue due: December 15, 2016

 

Registration and Accommodations:

There is no registration fee for this workshop. Free meals will beprovided during the workshop. Participants need to cover their own travel andaccommodation expenses.
