The 12th International Association for Chinese Management Research (IACMR) Biennial Conference will be held in Hong Kong SAR, China, from June 2–6, 2027. The conference will be hosted by the Business School of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Under the theme “Advancing Chinese Management Research in the Age of AI,” this conference will explore how AI-driven transformations are reshaping the landscape of Chinese management research and practice.

The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications in robotics, automation, and decision-making presents unprecedented opportunities and challenges for Chinese management research in the following critical areas:

  1. Human-AI Dynamics: Rapid AI adoption in organizations has generated novel phenomena—from human-AI collaboration to AI-mediated human interactions—offering fertile ground to rethink traditional theories of work behavior, leadership, human capital, organizational design, and stakeholder relations and to develop new theories.
  2. Innovation in Chinese Contexts: Chinese firms are pioneering AI integration through distinctive business models, management practices, and indigenous operational logics. Research into these advancements can yield globally relevant insights while highlighting China’s unique contributions to management theory.
  3. Methodological Transformation: AI is revolutionizing research methodologies, enabling advanced data analytics, predictive modelling, and simulation techniques. These tools empower scholars to advance our understanding of in both established and emerging management phenomena.

Conference Goals
IACMR 2027 aims to stimulate scholarly dialogue on these themes, fostering theoretical innovation, and methodological advancement. By bridging AI’s technological potential with China’s dynamic managerial landscape, the conference will chart new pathways for impactful, contextually grounded research.

We warmly invite scholars in the field of management who are engaged in China-related research to submit conference papers.

What’s New?

To enhance the quality and reach of scholarly exchange, IACMR 2027 will replace traditional roundtable sessions with poster presentations. All accepted papers will be presented at the conference as either paper presentations or poster presentations. The program committee will assign papers to paper or poster sessions based on thematic fit, not on paper quality.

For poster presentations, the author(s) of each paper will have a one-hour slot in the poster hall to present and discuss their work with interested attendees. This format will increase visibility and facilitate broader engagement, enabling more colleagues to learn about and interact with your research.
