• IACMR News

1. IACMR Research Methods Workshop held in Shandong University
The 2024 IACMR Research Methods Workshop was held at the School of Management, Shandong University from July 8 to 11.​ Focusing on the pursuit of scientific spirit and the understanding and application of research methods, the professors conducted systematic and in-depth interactive training for 120 doctoral students and young teachers from 52 universities at home and abroad. During the lecture, 12 professors led a group to conduct a group discussion, discuss, analyze and guide the proposals of the group members one by one, and select the best proposals of the group for presentation. 2. IACMR Research Series Seminar Sessions

On July 31, 2024, the 49th IACMR Research Seminar series was successfully held, the speaker was Dr. Zhenyu Liao from Northeastern University and the theme of his speech was The Gendered Liability of Venture Novelty. Professor Yucheng Zhang of the University of Southampton, Member of the IACMR Research Committee host the webinar.

The 50th IACMR Research Seminar Series was held on August 28 via zoom, Professor Dónal Crilly from London Business School gave us an English speech titled Understanding Investor Impatience for Financial Returns and Social Outcomes, Dr. Shuping Li from Hong Kong PolyU hosted this session. The 51st IACMR Research Seminar Series will be held on September 18, the session theme is From strategic HRM to sustainable HRM? Exploring a common-good approach, the speaker is Professor Fang Lee Cooke from Monash Business School. Please click here for registration.

The 52th IACMR Research Seminar Series will be held on Oct. 10, themed “Emerging Issues in Corporate Ownership”, the speaker is Brian Connelly of Harbert College of Business, Auburn University, and Dr. Shuping Li from Hong Kong PolyU will be the host. 3. Results Announcement| “Phenomenon-based Theorizing in Chinese Management Research” — A Ph.D. Course
The results of the PhD program “Phenomenon-based Theorizing in Chinese Management Research” jointly organized by IACMR and MOR have been announced, please click here to see the list of selected candidates.

4. IACMR/MOR Events in AOM: Celebrating MOR’s 20th Anniversary

2024 marks the 20th anniversary of IACMR’s flagship journal, Management and Organization Review (MOR), and we had a wonderful celebration during the AoM Chicago Conference on August 10, 2024! At the meeting, MOR Editor-in-Chief Prof. Xiao-Ping Chen reported on the latest work of MOR and announced the winners of the best paper awards for the past two decades, in addition to the Outstanding Associate Editor Award, the Best Senior Editor Award, and the Best Reviewer Award winners. Anne Tsui, Marshall Meyer, Michael Morris, Arie Lewin and Xu Huang spoke at the event. Afterwards, Runtian Jing, IACMR president, reported the progress of this year’s IACMR activities to the members. Over 200 participated in this activity.

5. 2025 IACMR Conference Submission System will be Opening Soon

A Call for Papers has been issued and the submission system will begin accepting conference papers, symposia and PDW submissions on September 16, 2024 at 12:00 noon GMT (September 15, 2024 at 12:00 pm EST). We look forward to your submission!

6. Call for Nominations | 2025 IACMR Distinguished Scholarly Contribution (DSC) Award

IACMR Distinguished Scholarly Contribution (DSC) Award is given out every two years, in recognition of a scholar who has devoted much of their career to the study of Chinese management and has made significant contributions to the theory, methods, or practice of Chinese management. The next winner will be recognized at the 2025 Biennial Conference in Xi’an, China. please click here to nominate the 2025 DSC award.

7. Call for Nominations |IACMR-PUP Outstanding Book Award on Chinese Management

IACMR-PUP Outstanding Book Award on Chinese Management was established jointly by IACMR and Peking University Press (PUP) to encourage and recognize original (non-translated) books in the field of Chinese management. This award is granted biennially to one to three book(s) judged to have made the most outstanding contribution to the advancement of Chinese management knowledge. The award is presented during the subsequent IACMR Biennial Conference, and cash rewards of 10,000 RMB are given to the authors/editors of each selected book. 2. The Deadline for Proposal Submissions of Two MOR SI related Artificial Intelligence is Approaching

MOR special issues “Artificial Intelligence in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management Research” and “Opportunities and Challenges of Artificial Intelligence in Strategic Management and Organizational Innovation” are due by September 15. PDW will be held at the School of Management of Zhejiang University and the Business School of Renmin University respectively.

3. MOR 20.3 Coming Soon
All the articles of 20.3 are ready to be published. However, due to technical disruption of Cambridge University Press, we are experiencing some delays to publication. Please stay tuned.

The AMJ Paper Development Workshop will be held at the School of Management of Xi’an Jiaotong University on October 19th (all day Saturday), and you are welcome to register and meet the AMJ editor-in-chief team face-to-face! There will be 11 editors, including Editor-in-Chief, two Deputy Editors, and eight Associate Editors, who will provide one-on-one feedback and guidance! The deadline for submissions is September 13, 2024
