1. 2021 IACMR Biannual Conference Report
The 2021 IACMR Biennial Conference kicked off at 08:00 Beijing time on June 17. This year’s IACMR conference was postponed from 2020 to 2021, and due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the planned hybrid format of online and on-site conference had to be shifted to online via CISCO WebEx. At the same time, a conference APP and an integrated webpage were developed for this conferenc. Participants gathered in the cloud and witnessed this academic event!

The conference was hosted by Guanghua School of Management of Peking University and School of Management of Xi’an Jiaotong University, the theme of the conference was “Cultivating Entrepreneurship in China”. We received 851 submittmations in total and 560 papers were accepted, which was a record number of submissions and acceptances. There were 7 keynote lectures/forums, 68 paper presentations, 48 roundtable discussions, 12 symposia and 13 professional development workshops held during the conference.

TLC@IACMR 2021 (June 16)
TLC@IACMR is a strategic initiative in response to the growing demands for top-quality management education in China and the associated teaching improvement needs of IACMR members. TLC seeks to engage our members on the theory and practice of teaching, bridge the gap between teaching and research, and support their development as first class teachers and educators. TLC@IACMR 2021 Conference was held on June 16 in conjunction with the IACMR Biennial Conference. 2021 IACMR Conference School Night
IACMR continues to provide a full range of faculty recruitment services for Business/Management schools at home and abroad! 2. IACMR Young Scholar Development Seminar Series Session 7
IACMR Young Scholar Development Seminar Session 7 will be held on September 8. The theme of the lecture is Independent Learning and Enhancement of Management Research Methods. The speakers and their speech titles are Independent Learning and Enhancement of Quantitative Research Methods by Dongyuan Wu of Fudan University, and Independent learning and enhancement of Qualitative Research Methods by Shenghui Ma of Fudan University. The coordinator of this seminar is Haijiang Wang, Associate Professor, School of Management, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The seminar will be in Chinese. 3. IACMR Research Seminar Series Session 12-15
The 12th session of IACMR Research Seminar Series was held at 9:00 a.m. on May 26, 2021. Professor Wu Liu from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University gave a speech which theme was Management and Organization Research in the Chinese Healthcare Context: Trends, Opportunities, and Challenges in English, please click here for the video record.

The 13th IACMR Research Seminar Series was held online on June 23 at 9:30 a.m. Professor Brian Wu of the University of Michigan gave a lecture titled A Resource-based Theory of Hyperspecialization and Hyperscaling in Digital Firms, the lecture was well received by the audience.

IACMR Research Seminar Series session 14 was held on July 28, 2021via Zoom, the speaker was Prof. Yaping Gong from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the topic of his lecture was Crisis and Creativity Experienced by Employees.

The 15th IACMR Research Seminar Series was held on August 25 via Zoom, Professor Michael Lounsbury from University of Alberta was the speaker and he gave a speech The Institutional Logics Perspective: Developments and New Directions to more than 300 IACMR members, please click here for the video record.

4. IACMR New Seminar Series Initiated: Teaching and Learning Forum
To better accomplish IACMR mission to “advance the science, education and practice of Chinese management”. IACMR launched the program of “The Scholarship of Teaching Workshop” since 2019. Under the present situation of COVID pandemic, we have decided to launch a bi-monthly online Teaching and Learning Forum from 2021 October. We will invite great professors worldly in the field of management to speak on this platform, with the purpose of helping IACMR members with a passion to education become excellent teachers, so as to help advance the quality of management education in China, especially during these times of restricted travel. The forum format will be 60 mins live via Zoom (If the speaker agrees, video recording will be posted on-line) and the Language will be Chinese and English alternative each session. The 1st session will be held on October 13, the theme is How Relevant Teaching Might Really Mean, the speaker of this session is Prof. Jean Bartunek from Boston College, please click here for more session information.

5. 2021 Grant Winners of Kwok Leung Memorial Dissertation Fund
The 2021 Kwok Leung Memorial Dissertation Fund called for Proposals on February 1st, 2021. By the submission deadline of March 15, 34 valid proposals had been received from students of 30 universities worldwide. The IACMR Research Committee membersco-chaired by David Zhu (Arizona State University) and Jasmine Hu (The Ohio State University), reviewed and assessed the submitted proposals, each of which received at least two reviews, five proposals received the highest ratings and have won 2021 Kwok Leung Memorial Dissertation Fund grants, each of the winner received 10,000 RMB (pre-tax) from the grant, please click here for the winner list.

6. New IACMR Officers on Board
We are exctited to announce the 2021-2023 IACMR Executive Committee members on board after the 2021 IACMR Biennial Meeting! We give big thanks to the previous committee members for their outstanding contributions to IACMR and the academic community during their tenure (2018-2021). The co-chairs of the Micro and Macro Groups of IACMR Research Committee for the 2021-2023 term have also taken office.

4. Call for Proposals |New Technology and OB/HRM in China: Captializing on Big Data to Expand Organizational Research and Practice
Management and Organization Review (MOR) is calling for submissions that can capitalize on the emergence of organizational big data (specifically defined below) to develop new theories and constructs, explore new phenomena, and answer new research questions, with the hope of contributing to the theoretical developments and empirical extensions concerning the application of new technologies and big data in OB/HR in China. The key feature of this special issue is to encourage scholars to leverage an alternative, unconventional data source, such as unobstrusive, employee autogenerated data, prompted by new technologies (e.g., Artificual intelligence (AI), Big Data, mobile internet, cloud computing), to answer new research questions in organizational research that are otherwise difficult to study when only relying on traditional OB/HR methods. 5. 2021 IACMR Conference|MOR Forum
On June 17, MOR held a special forum on IACMR Biennial Conference with the theme of “Meet New Editors and MOR Award Ceremony”. Prof. Xiao-Ping Chen, incoming Editor-in-Chief of MOR, Professor of the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington, hosted the forum and new MOR editorial board members, award-winning editors and reviewers, and some IACMR members attended it. The winners of the Distinguished Editor Award, Best Senior Editor Award, and Best Reviewer Award were announced by Professor Arie Y. 2. 2021 IACMR Conference|MI Salon
On June 16, MI held a salon on IACMR Biennial Conference. This salon was hosted by Yating Cheng, Executive Associate Editor of MI, with the participation of Prof. Xiao-Ping Chen, Executive Editor of MI, Prof. Weiying Zhang from Peking University, and Huang Xu, Professor at the Hong Kong Baptist University. Prof. Weiying Zhang gave a keynote speech on the topic of “Big Data Cannot Replace Entrepreneurs” and Prof. Xu Huang gave a keynote speech on the topic of “ How to Explore Management Research Issues from Practices”. MI was announced updated at the salon.

3. CFP|Journal of International Management SI Paper Development Workshop
 Journal of International Management (JIM) invite you to submit your working papers to the Paper Development Workshop (PDW) for a special issue on “MNEs and Sustainable Business in Emerging Markets”. This is an opportunity to discuss your paper and receive feedback during a 2-day workshop before submitting the paper to the special issue.Participation in the PDW is highly encouraged although it is not a condition for the paper acceptance. The CFP deadline is November 1, 2021, and the PDW will be held from January 10-11, 2022.
